Barn Dances
Barn Dances are a brilliant opportunity to get parents, staff, pupils - and maybe even governors - together in a most enjoyable social event. Barn dances make sure that people have to mix and interact. They can also be used as fund-raising events, requiring very little organisation. How they work
The PTA, (or anyone else for that matter) books us, and then sells tickets for the event. We bring our own P.A. system and teach all the moves before putting on the dance music. We use CDs rather than a live band, thus keeping the cost within the reach of schools on a tight budget, or who wish to raise funds. We teach dances in different formats and encourage people of all ages to join in. As David has taught country dancing in schools for many years, a lot of the dances are ideal for children, but there are more challenging ones available if there are some seasoned dancers there.
What else can you do?
You can include refreshments, anything from nibbles and drinks to a full buffet meal; maybe even a fish and chip supper. Otherwise make sure everyone brings some drinks because it is thirsty work! If you are fund-raising, you can sell these refreshments separately or include them in the price of your ticket. You could include a raffle on the day, or have other fund-raising events available. You can encourage those attending to wear country-style dress to add to the atmosphere, and include some decoration if you wish. These are all optional.
What we need?
A school hall or other suitable venue - even a barn!
If a barn is used, or you want to risk an outdoor event, hay bales around the edge of the dance area add a nice touch.
What does it cost?
An extremely reasonable £95 up to 11pm. Please ask for a quote after this time. Travel costs will be added (fuel)
