Puppet Workshops
As a Primary School headteacher in Lincolnshire for over 25 years David understands the importance of all pupils having the chance to access any stimulus which enables them to develop communication skills, self -esteem and confidence. David sometimes accompanied by his wife, Sue, have been touring the country for the past six years with an 'army' of puppets to give children hands-on experience working them. They have visited over 300 schools and worked with about 37,000 children in that time. Key Stage 1 & 2 children develop speaking and listening skills through role play, giving the puppets identities and personalities.
David and Sue have recently extended their collection and now have about one hundred and twenty puppets so that all pupils can work with one of their choice. Some have hands that the children can put theirs into, like gloves, and perform a variety of actions. Ideal to include in a project on puppets.

Key Stage 1 children love the stories told by David and assisted by Gus, who you've probably already met on the right. You'll have noticed that Gus has an opinion on everything!
Through handling the puppets like Gus, children develop their manipulation skills.
All children gain confidence through the experience of using the puppets and performing in front of each other, and perhaps a wider audience. Key Stage 2 children learn the techniques of ventriloquism.
David and Sue are flexible to fit in with your school's requirements and timetable, but typically get the children, or the whole school together at the beginning of the day for an introductory story, and then work with a class at a time (approximately 30 children), for about an hour each. They can, of course, work for longer periods with each group, or slightly shorter. The only requirements are a hall or large empty classroom. We are also available out of school hours and holidays therefore qualifying us to be used for your Me2 budgets if you have one.
The topics that we cover in schools include, speaking & listening, creative writing, SEAL (relationships education) multicultural education & healthy schools. Many other areas are covered and we are open to suggestions.
The cost for a day's workshop is £225 plus travel costs. Please use the Contact Us page to get in touch with David and Sue if you would like to learn more or discuss a booking for your school.
